This short luxury safari is deliberately focused rather than overloaded. Instead of trying to reach the Serengeti in only four days, it pairs two of northern Tanzania’s most rewarding landscapes with premium accommodation: Tarangire’s elephant-and-baobab country and the Ngorongoro highlands. The route gives guests time to enjoy the properties as part of the safari, not merely use them as places to sleep.
Nimali Tarangire provides an intimate tented-lodge experience on a private conservancy adjoining Tarangire, while Ngorongoro Lodge Meliá Collection places guests on the crater rim with a very different style of luxury. The second Ngorongoro night means the crater game drive can be enjoyed without immediately beginning a long return journey. This is an ideal high-end extension after Kilimanjaro or before Zanzibar.

Destination: Tarangire National Park
Your private guide collects you from Arusha or your hotel and drives to the Tarangire region. Enter the park for a relaxed game drive, with the freedom to stop at elephant herds, baobab landscapes or predator sightings without needing to keep pace with a group tour. Lunch can be arranged as a high-quality picnic or lodge-based meal according to the final program. In the afternoon, continue exploring before checking into Nimali Tarangire. The camp’s setting on a private conservancy creates a quiet transition from game drive to evening, with time to enjoy the suite, lounge areas and views rather than arriving only after dark.

Day 2Tarangire to Ngorongoro Highlands
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Destination: Tarangire / Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Begin with an early Tarangire activity or slower breakfast depending on your preference. Continue toward the Ngorongoro highlands, passing through the Rift Valley and fertile Karatu region. The afternoon is intentionally not overloaded: arrive at the crater rim with enough time to settle into Ngorongoro Lodge Meliá Collection, enjoy the views and rest before the following day’s crater safari. Optional experiences such as a rim walk, spa treatment or private dining arrangement can be discussed at booking stage and remain subject to lodge and park rules.

Day 3Private Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Destination: Ngorongoro Crater
Descend early into the crater in your private vehicle. Starting early often provides cooler conditions and allows you to enjoy the crater before the busiest part of the day. Spend several hours exploring grassland, marshes and forest, with opportunities to see lion, hyena, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and elephant. Black rhino occur in the ecosystem but remain a special sighting rather than a guarantee. A premium picnic or bush-lunch arrangement can be planned where permitted. Return to the crater rim in the afternoon for a second night at the lodge, giving you time to relax after the game drive rather than immediately returning to Arusha.

Day 4Ngorongoro to Arusha / JRO
Arusha
Destination: Ngorongoro Highlands / Arusha
Enjoy breakfast overlooking the highlands before checking out. Drive privately to Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport according to your onward arrangements. Guests continuing to Zanzibar can add a same-day domestic flight if schedules connect appropriately.
