The six-day itinerary is best suited to fit trekkers who understand that a shorter mountain schedule provides less acclimatisation time than the seven-day version. Continue toward the Shira area as the vegetation becomes more open.

Day 3Shira to Barranco via the Lava Tower Area
Machame Route
Destination: Kilimanjaro
A higher daytime point followed by descent toward Barranco forms part of the route’s acclimatisation profile.

Day 4Barranco to Barafu via Karanga
Machame Route
Destination: Kilimanjaro
Continue along the southern circuit toward the high camp. This is the key compressed day that distinguishes the six-day Machame from the seven-day version.

Day 5Guided Summit Sector and Descent to Mweka
Machame Route
Destination: Kilimanjaro
The summit attempt proceeds only when weather, health and the guide’s assessment allow. After the summit sector, descend to lower altitude.

Day 6Mweka to Mweka Gate
Machame Route
Destination: Kilimanjaro
Descend through the forest and transfer onward.
Night Accommodation: None unless a post-climb hotel is added
